This how I make tags for my dolls. These particular ones are for the dolls I made in the last while and did not get to their tags. Sometimes the girls can wait a while for me to complete the task! Tags are very important part of my work, but some days they are difficult to make. If I did not think about the tags when I was making the outfit, and did not put aside the right coordinating fabrics, I need to dig through my supplies and find bits of the cloth that. I sometimes find that I have no more of the right type of ribbon or trim. Maybe it is misplaced or maybe I threw out that little piece when I was done with the doll.
First I gathered the bits of fabric to make the front. Then I traced my logo from another tag, on to pieces of muslin with a micron pen. Next, I go to the sewing machine an freestyle stitch the pieces all together.
After that, I write up the paper tag, with information about the doll, for the back. I think the hardest part maybe naming each of the dolls and finding a describing sentence. I look at list names and try things on, making sure it feels right, before I choose the one that fits. Once that is all together, it is back to the sewing machine to attach the card. Lastly, come the grommet in the side and then the ribbon to attach it to the doll. This process is better done as with a bunch of tags as apposed to making just one.
And then they are done! It does take a bunch of time, but I feel it is an important part of my brand.

Starting Again
Well, It is February 2014 and I have been trying to get going on this blog thing for many years. Now is when I am jumping in. I have recently had a resurgence of interest in my dolls and because of that I am trying to get myself out there, so to speak. I find that I love to lurk on many wonderful creative blogs that are so beautiful and wonderfully inspiring. At first I thought that I did not have much to say. I now figure that does not matter. As with anything it is the doing that makes it good.
So this is what I have been working on recently.
This is a doll that I have repainted and dressed. She was very funny looking, (on the left), and I felt she needed a makeover. It was really good for me to do this. I realized that I am able to change whatever in what I create and that nothing is set in stone. I am very happy as she looks so much better.
I look forward to posting more of what I am working on. If you feel like it, tell me what you are working on too.

This is another doll that I finished last week. She was designed and stuffed two years ago and sat waiting for paint and clothing to make her debut! I am really happy to be getting into projects that just stopped a while ago and pick them up and complete them, as if no time has past. Something must have shifted in me this year over the last year.I expect that the work is much richer for the break. I am having a great time and I am so much more happy when I am creating.
