This how I make tags for my dolls. These particular ones are for the dolls I made in the last while and did not get to their tags. Sometimes the girls can wait a while for me to complete the task! Tags are very important part of my work, but some days they are difficult to make. If I did not think about the tags when I was making the outfit, and did not put aside the right coordinating fabrics, I need to dig through my supplies and find bits of the cloth that. I sometimes find that I have no more of the right type of ribbon or trim. Maybe it is misplaced or maybe I threw out that little piece when I was done with the doll.
First I gathered the bits of fabric to make the front. Then I traced my logo from another tag, on to pieces of muslin with a micron pen. Next, I go to the sewing machine an freestyle stitch the pieces all together.
After that, I write up the paper tag, with information about the doll, for the back. I think the hardest part maybe naming each of the dolls and finding a describing sentence. I look at list names and try things on, making sure it feels right, before I choose the one that fits. Once that is all together, it is back to the sewing machine to attach the card. Lastly, come the grommet in the side and then the ribbon to attach it to the doll. This process is better done as with a bunch of tags as apposed to making just one.
And then they are done! It does take a bunch of time, but I feel it is an important part of my brand.
I can see that they would take some time, but they have a big impact!
